Victorian Fruit Crystal Bottles: A Brief History
Victorian fruit crystal bottles were decorative 19th-century glass containers used for storing preserved fruits, cordials, and homemade infusions. Their clear or lightly tinted, often patterned glass showcased the vibrant colours of the fruit. Beyond storage, the preserved fruits and syrups they held were frequently used in Victorian desserts, such as trifles, jellies, puddings, and fruit compotes, where the bottled fruits added sweetness, colour, and seasonal flavour. Today, these bottles are prized by collectors for their craftsmanship and connection to Victorian domestic cooking. "CLARENCE" - A company lost to time?
